Description

The cube is the dual of the octahedron. Join the centres of the faces of a cube and you will obtain an octahedron. Repeat the process for that octahedron and a cube will appear inside it. This process may be repeated ad infinitum inwards or outwards.

The faces of the cube point in the six fundemental direction of 3D Euclidean space.
