Now that the classroom is up and running, we are working towards building a solar, or renewably, powered computer classroom which may be deployed anywhere in the world.
Work is proceeding on designing and testing the technical side of such a classroom, and researching the many possibilities of using such a classroom to support learning and teaching.
All support is welcome, whether in spreading the word about the project, or building up the general goodwill towards it.
The project has relied on givers, and their generosity, to move forward. It has received support from sponsors, anonymous donors and the HPS Educational Trust.
In a spirit of self-reliance, a set of attractive educational products is under development and the first items are available for sale in the shop.
Some of our current funding needs are set out in a spreadsheet under the link ‘funding needs’ which covers both the technical and education side.
Current estimates of the cost of deploying a renewably powered computer classroom in a sunny clime are £50,000+, but it isn’t easy to calculate the cost. The most pressing technical problem is finding a suitable battery.
Givers who donate funds will receive biennial bulletins via email on the progress of the project in January and July.
